NFHCA partners with First Scout & Front Rush

Chandler, AZ (February 16, 2015)—The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced today it has partnered with First Scout and Front Rush to provide film services and athlete data free to its member coaches for each of the association’s newly sanctioned events through 2017.

First Scout and Front Rush will first offer film and recruiting services for every game at the inaugural NFHCA Top Recruit Spring Fling at Cedar Lane Regional Park in Bel Air, MD from April 18-19, 2015.

NFHCA President Andy Whitcomb said, “Having every game at our sanctioned tournaments filmed and archived for future evaluation is a major benefit to both college coaches and student-athletes. The technology streamlines the whole recruiting communication process and enables us to see any game at our convenience.”

Jon Chastney, First Scout’s owner and co-founder said, “”Having an edited highlight reel is an increasingly important part of the college recruiting process.  We’re looking forward to offering our recruitment film services to all NFHCA athletes as well as leveraging Coach Packet’s ability to marry game film and highlights with athletes’ recruiting profiles.”

Coach Packet was created by Front Rush to help college coaches recruit more efficiently during and after recruiting events. Coach Packet’s native iPad app and video functionality provide college coaches the one-two punch they need to recruit more athletes in a shorter amount of time.

“We’re excited to take NFHCA events to a new level,” said Brad Downs, Front Rush’s co-founder. “Everybody wins with this partnership and the recruiting process will benefit immediately thanks to the efficiencies created through our proprietary technology.”

The deal was brokered by Corrigan Sports Enterprises, the official event marketing and sports management firm of the NFHCA.

You’ve got questions about Coach Packet, we’ve got answers.

Do I have to be a Front Rush client to use Coach Packet?

Nope. It is available to every coach no matter what recruiting software your program uses.

What recruiting events will Coach Packet be at?

It depends on the sport. Email our support team for a current list. If you would like to see Coach Packet at the events you attend, forward our information over to the tournament director. It goes a long way if they hear it from you.

Once in Coach Packet, can I share my notes, ratings and stars with other staff members?

Absolutely. Once you’re logged in, click ‘Users’ at the top right and invite other staff members to your account.

Do I have to have access to the Internet to use Coach Packet at events?

No. Coach Packet’s iPad app works offline so you’ll be able to access the event data without an Internet connection. Some events will have an Internet connection in the coach’s hospitality tent.

Does Coach Packet get the most up to date schedule and roster information?

Yes. Tournament directors provide Coach Packet with any schedule or roster changes, which are updated in the app before and during the event. What’s even cooler, if the event is using AES (www.advancedeventsystems.com/), Coach Packet gets updates automatically.

I’m old school and I love pen and paper, how does Coach Packet benefit me?

There are a few big features that will benefit you and your staff. First, we allow coaches to print off the rosters and schedule so you’ll be able to create your own hard copy packet. Second, we provide more information on the athlete than just name, jersey number, club team. Last but certainly not least, some tournaments utilize Coach Packet’s video feature which will give you and your staff access to the full-game footage after the event.

How will I be able to access the data and video?

Each event comes with its own ‘Event Code’. The event director and/or the Coach Packet team will provide the code to you.

Will I have to pay to access the data and video?

It depends on the event. Drop us a line and we’ll let you know if the event in question has a fee associated with it or not.

How do other coaches use the ‘Stars’?

There are 5 star colors that are open for interpretation for you and your staff. For example, some staffs use the Green Star as ‘Athletes we need to evaluate in person’ and others use the Red Star as ‘Athletes we’re not interested in’. It’s completely up to you and your staff to define what each star represents.

Can I create individual schedules for each member on my staff?

Sure can. Go to the games section of Coach Packet and simply click the coach icon to the right of the game to assign it to a coach on your staff.

So I’ve made all my notes and evaluations, now what?

Most coaches either add their information over to their Front Rush account or export it to csv.

If you have further questions, feel free to drop us a line at anytime.
